The latest real release I have is “Doing Me” which features Xam from Mandal, Norway produced by Marshtini out of Oslo, mixed and mastered by Daniel Cordero working out of Suburban Kids Studios in Berlin, Germany. It is now available for streaming and download at all you digital outlets.
I think we wrote the track at the end of 2016, recorded pretty quick about nearly a year after I got the Marshtini beat. I have known Xam for a couple of years he is a Norwegian Hip Hop pioneer so to speak. I had just got home from working with Jeru The Damaja, Afu Ra and Big Shug which is where the shout out came from. AFter being reminded I had the beat I remembered my first reaction when I first heard it I thought it sounded like a Guru type beat.
I loved the beat no doubt about it but it was definitely a lot different than anything I have ever used. It turned out to be a fun project. I came up in the late 70’s through 80’s hip hop eras Xam cam up in the 90’s era and it definitely shines through on the track which is cool. I was in a golden era mood when I wrote my parts along with the hook.
We recorded the track at my crib and decided to go straight to video with it. We sent the session to Daniel Cordero to be mixed and mastered and it came out better than we had expected. It just turned 1 year old so it’s great to see it actually released as a single.
It’s a fun track, kiddie friendly as is the video. The video was basically a family day at the skate park Xam’s son can be seen skating in the background and I am holding my newborn Andre Xsaviour who make his video debut. Most of it was filmed by my wife Miss Edith edited by me and Miss Edith. Check it out on Tidal, Spotify, Deezer or whatever your favourite spot is and yea check out the video all DIY guerrilla tactics.
